Come visit us at Rocky Mountain Audiofest 2011 in Denver. Bottlehead will be showing in the Can-Jam room sponsored by Head-Fi, at tables C21 and C22.
We will have four prototype headphone amps running:
- Crack, with an updated circuit to work with medium impedance headphones as well as high impedance headphones
- S.E.X. 2.1, with the upcoming C4s upgrade kit
- the new Smack single gain stage headphone amp with single ended and balanced outputs and switchable output impedance
- Paramount 300B monoblocks running a pair of the rare and exotic AKG K1000 headspeakers
Our sources will be:
- the BottleNagra, our Nagra T Audio tape deck with Bottlehead Tube Repro playback electronics, playing samples of albums from all three series of the Tape Project
- a prototype Bottlehead DAC playing files from our Mac Mini based music server, using the latest Amarra 2.3 music player software.
We will have several pairs of headphones for you to try, and you are also most welcome to bring your own headphones to plug into our system to see which amp works best for you. Please do stop by, step up, sit down, and listen!

A road trip from the bay area is tempting.....

This is the best show for the end user to attend, without a doubt. The most cool stuff in one place. Al and Marjorie started it as a counterpoint to our old VSAC, but grew it into something much bigger while managing to keep the friendly vibe that made VSAC memorable. I showed at the first one and had a really fun time. Meantime we had been exhibiting at CES for Tape Project and doing other small events for Bottlehead pretty steadily for the past few years. After coming back to RMAF for the first time in 6 years to work in a shared exhibit room last year, Eileen and I decided that it would be fun to do our own display this year.

Hmmm. 10 hours from Bozeman sounds pretty fun.
