Title: Quickie with powered speakers

Hey, not sure if anyone has an answer for this, I am wondering if the Quickie has enough gain to drive powered computer type speakers. I would try it out myself, but at this time I have no powered speakers on hand. Thanks for any help.

Oh, good question.

I did run my older Cambridge Sound Works (not to be confused with Cambridge Audio)  2.1 self powered speakers with my Quickie and thought it sounded fine with ample gain. However this was a BRIEF time period and before install of PJCCS.

The issue might be the load of the connecting cables and the input load of the amp/speaker input.

Betcha folks will be right along with more detailed answers.

Thanks for your reply Kevin. The reason I asked was a crazy idea I had, thinking about building an Ipod/media player dock with built in speakers. Something like a rectangular case with the Quickie layed out within, and 2 powered speakers on either end, I can't wear phones at work, so it would be nice to have some good tube sound to listen to.

It appears to me that "Powered Speakers" which have been around for decades are designed to be fed from a preamp. 

Maybe I'm not getting it?

I have used mine with powered Bose computer speakers, I know (but they are good, for computer speakers).  The Quickie drove them fine.
