thirdear-i have to respectively ask--what are you talking about--a lamp preamp-lamp amplifier????
can you clarify

Lamp preamps/amps glow?

Have to say, I thought was a high quality lava lamp. He he You have to forgive me, very often, I misread signs, sentences, etc. more than most people. It makes me smile.

We call it a "tube" or "vacuum tube"; in England and Australia it's a "valve", other places it's a "lamp" - or whatever translates as "lamp" locally.

Your kind of lamp amp is a much more expensive type of amp like the ST-70. Well, in that it is push pull multi stage. Neither DHT or SET.
So the answer is yes, many Bottleheads need more than flea power and use a broad selection of tubed amplifiers with Foreplay preamps.
