hey,
I saw a old post PJ made about the possibility of a redesign of the paramount driver board for the stereomour which uses the 5670 tube. Is this still in the works?
I bet there would be some enthusiasm about such a product!
thanks any info would be appreciated
thanks,
Coltrane

Hello Coltrane,
The PC board in the Steremour is functionally nearly identical to the soft start PC board (the Soft Start board is a little more flexible).
Since the 5670 is strictly a 6.3V tube and the Steremour has a 12V heater winding, this is probably not the best choice.

I should have looked at the schematic before posting,
sorry.

The useful thing the soft-start board has is an adjustable shunt-regulator chip you can use as the cathode bias for the drivers. This allows lower-gain tubes such as the 12AV7, 5965, 12AY7, 12SN7, etc. to be used - if you don't need the gain. Some of these will need an adjustment in the plate current as well for optimal operation.
