I am listening to KIRO from Seattle and became bored with the host so I decided to check out my old fave rock stations from the college days... I searched for KRQR San Francisco which isnt around anymore. So that means my fave lunchtime spin doctor Steven Seaweed is gone also... Oh well, let me go to KSJO in San Jose and whats up there???? I find..... It is now a CHINESE station!!! What the hell is going on....... I have been gone WAY too long apparently..... So thank the Lord for internet radio that allows me to search the entire country for some new decent rock stations..... Glad I have already sold my FM tuners... No use for them now.... Sorry for the rant...
The only good news is I heard that Seattle may have a basketball team again!!!

I lived most of my life in Atlanta. It has 5 million people and lots of the same sounding radio stations. I moved to Knoxville, about 300,000 including surrounding area, and they have a Bluegrass/Americana station. SO my car is glued to 89.9 WDVX. It is listener supported so twice a year we get the plea for support. When I work I contribute.
Not that they are all Bluegrass, they sneak in Can't Find My Way Home by Blind Faith (it is a classical guitar), some CSN and other acoustic instrument rock music.

Here in Tucson we fortunately still have WKLPX. Great station, The Frank Show in the morning and Alice Cooper in the PM. Cant beat it if you are a classic rocker. Alice plays some obscure stuff, long album cuts, and has some good trivia etc.

KLPX 91.6? It's been so long since I lived in Tucson I don't remember the freq. Also there is a local FM station that plays the weird stuff. Ring any bells? I don't remember the call letters. Seems like it was a college station on the low end of the scale. KXCI! That's it.

Hey Greg - yep KLPX is 96.1. Same as it was a bunch of years ago. In the 80's they used to do telephone surveys and ask people what bands they wanted to hear. I really felt like that was 'my' radio station. I dont listen so much now, I mostly listen to my stereo.

Wax, Alice cooper is dj ing on your radio station??? wow how awesome!!!

Alice Cooper does a syndicated show...plays here. That is what most FM radio has gone to, preprogrammed compute shows. The future is Internet radio.
I'm with Grainger on Americana. IMO, that's where today's singer/song writers are...a blend of country, southern rock, blues, folk. Check out radio free Texas, badlands, roothog.

Hey Chris - AC is a Phoenix native, and still lives here. Surprisingly enough he does the evening DJ 6 nights a week on KLPX. I'm sure its not for the money. He seems to have a good time. He has an encyclopedic rock and roll library in his nicely toasted brain cells. I dont side with his politics but there is no other Alice Cooper!

Thanks guys, I will check it out.... And yes, Alice is awesome.. ( i think he is a Detroit native, but you are right, he has lived in Arizona for a long time, cant blame him), i am sure it is a real kick for him to do the program, i know it would be for me!! Dee Snyder would also be a kick, Same with Pat Dinizio, however , have to say David Lee Roth's stab at radio wasnt quite as entertaining... But Alice is the King... :) I just think it is great to have all 3 still for the time being... analog (FM, AM), internet and shortwave... At our disposal...
