Hi I have a pair of 50mh 150ma hammond chokes could I use them in place of the stock cokes?.
Thanks Jim

You could try these in the SEX amp, which version do you have?
I don't generally recommend using Hammond chokes as plate chokes because they are not designed for that implementation. You may find that your high frequency response diminishes considerably using the Hammond chokes. Also, these are going to be much, much larger than the stock iron.
If you have an older SEX amp with the Triad C7X chokes, then it may be worth giving it a shot. If your C7X's have plastic bobbins, this may be a little truer.
I must add a word of caution though - the newest Hammond transformer I looked at had a very crooked stack and the last lamination was not tapped all the way into place.

If by 50mh you mean 50 milli-henries (0.050 henry), that is a very small value, useless as a plate choke or as a power supply choke.

The chokes are 50 Henry's not mh there are about 12 yrs old.

Wow - they must be frickin' huge! I'm guessing, like 10 pounds? At 150mA, Hammond doesn't currently list anything above 10 henries. Hold onto those, they would be hard to replace.

There not that big I could fit them in the S.E.X. amp in the stock holes. Just realized there 5H not 50H :o :-[.
