Maybe some more of you nerds will like this...
This is how I made my tone control very useful, and consistent throughout the range of volume.
The .0047uf really needs to be at least .0033uf to sound good from what I can tell (.001 is way to small). The .047uf could also be a .022uf or whatever you want.
I'm using these for volume. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMT-Resistor-250K-LOG-Step-Volume-Control-Alps-upgrade-/221001259543?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3374b39a17) They are small and better than plastic pots. Very easy to turn. The value on the tone knob doesn't matter as much (I have a 20k, even though I'd buy a 250k if I had to get a new one, and the 20k works fine).
