Title: Static thru 1 channel at start-up, goes away with a tap on the top of the 2A3

It's intermittent, and always stops with that tap on top of the power tube. Likely cause?

Loose tube socket or a less than optimum solder joint on the tube socket.  In other words I think it is something to do with the socket, not the tube.  Of course the first thing is to clean the tube & socket by pulling the tube out and inserting 10 times.

Okay, will do. I guess I could spray some deOxit in there while I'm at it.

put a little on a pipe cleaner or something. I am always uneasy with just spraying that stuff around...John

Check my FAQ thread in my corner. There is a suggestion, and a picture, there of a tool that will have other uses.

I felt funny about that too (so much for saving money on the spray cans from Parts Express).

Will do, Grainger. Thanks!
