Title: Pot impedance
Post by: FraGGleR on April 07, 2013, 09:34:56 AM
Me again!  I was able to get my hands on an Alps RK40 "Black Beauty" stereo pot and wanted to see what it did for the S.E.X. 2.1 that I have.  Problem is that it is a 50K pot, not 100K.  Will this be a problem?  Are there adjustments I should make to the circuit?  Should I just use it in a different build?

Thanks!

No problem at all -- go for it!

That shouldn't be a problem.  50k is going to be the input impedance.  Sources will be happy with that.  It should not make a difference to the input of the first stage either.

I have one, still virgin, that I need to break out.

Let me know what you think.

While not a black beauty, I'm considering installing this pot in my S.E.X.: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=RK27112A0A16virtualkey68800000virtualkey688-RK27112A0A16 (http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=RK27112A0A16virtualkey68800000virtualkey688-RK27112A0A16)

Can anyone confirm this is an appropriate model? I'm fairly confident it is, but could use some reassurance before I order it...

Thanks!
Adam

Yes, that is a suitable replacement.

As always, many thanks Paul.
