I've noticed that my S.E.X. sounds better---more ... "delicious"---if I have the volume control open all the way and modulate the volume from the source.
Is this because, as I increase the volume I increase some of the euphonic distortion? E.g., the 2nd order harmonics.
How do you play your S.E.X.? Wide-open and control from the source or the other way around.
Thanks,
Alberto

I don't, but I probably should, given my set up.

Like all amplifiers, SEX has more distortion when the OUTPUT is greater. That has nothing to do with the volume control settings.
What you are probably hearing is the sound of the volume control itself, which becomes just the input resistor wen turned up all the way. Perhaps the source has a better control?

I thought I heard the same thing with the Quickie. I think its one of those 'psycho acoustics' things. I took the volume control out of it completely for a spell. Its back now. Interesting how perceptions are.
