After building and then thoroughly enjoying a Crack headphone amp - I took the plunge today and ordered a Stereomour kit. I'm planning on building a different base for it, using a different kind of wood.
I know the top plate is 10"x12" (and also know to wait for it to arrive before doing the final bits on the base) - but don't know the other dimensions of the supplied base - wood thickness & width of the boards - can someone who has one do a quick measure & post?
This will help me find a nice piece of wood while waiting for the kit to arrive.
Thanks,
Rich

More important is the question if you want to lime in some wooden strips for securing the base or do you know a carpenter who can mill out wood on the inside for securing the base like Bottlehead offers...?
I went the first option way...
Do you want angels or just blunt connections...

Haven't quite decided the approach yet. "Milling" the rabbet that the top plate sits in is not all that hard (using a router is one way) - but strips work too and might be easier. I don't have a table saw anymore - so butt joints are probably the way I'll go.
To be honest, the base for the amp is pretty routine - I've been doing head cases for guitar amps for a while now and this is a little simpler. The fun part (of the woodworking) is to find the right piece of wood.
This picture shows my earliest attempts for head cases.

The 10" length of wood that came with the Crack is the same as the 10" piece supplied for the front/back edges of the Stereomour.
(If you didn't order a Crack base, let me know and I can go measure a piece, I think they are around 3-1/2-4")

Paul: I'd really appreciate it if you could measure - my Crack is in my office & I won't be going there for another week (travel)...
Thanks.

They are 3-1/2", then roughly another 1/4" for the rubber feet.
IIRC, the BeePre and Eros are the two kits that really need the full depth.
