Has anyone tried fitting a Valab stepped attenuator (ladder-type) in a S.E.X. (preferably one with with C4S and impedance switches)? Any issues (other than possibly widening the hole in the chassis board)?
Best regards,
Adam

Haven't tried it for fit, but I have one of those steppers. Once I remove the old pot, I will let you know how well it fits. Just eyeballing it, it will be a very tight fit. Might run into issues with it hitting the wood.

For reference, the Valab ladder style attenuator will fit, but will touch the wood. The hole for the stabilization peg (or whatever it should be called) needs to be moved a couple mm away from the shaft to fit properly. Care with placement of components, especially the 22uF capacitors will be needed as things get quite crowded.

You can use a rotary rasp to relieve the wood on the base where it would be touching. Just be sure not to relieve it at the top.
