We all have a story for our name. 4KROW came from my friend who owned a dog named KROW. Unfortunately, KROW was dognapped, and never seen again. I chose this for remembrance. What's your story?
-
Paully - self-evident as my name is Paul but a little more to it since I grew up being called Paully by just about everybody. I think Rocky was the big movie at the time. It stuck and I liked it.
-
Corndog was my nickname in the Marines.
-
Paully, I was just called 'Peyton" It was my last name, and was preferred over Greg. I've never liked my name.
Corndog, HA! Yah that would stick pretty well. I'll have to ask my boys if they have nicknames in the Navy. No doubt, I'm sure.
-
Yep, if they didn't call me Paully, they called me Hoot, which is a much shortened version of my last name. Of course my mom liked to refer to me as footpaul, basketpaul, soccerpaul, pizza paulor, etc... She thought she was funny.

I get my humor from my mother and my defective drain bbbbrain

Years and years ago I had a huge interest in medieval armour and weaponry. I tried to come up with an online handle that had some of those element in it that didn't sound terribly cheesy. After giving up on conventional sounding names, I started going through language roots and eventually settled on arma (Latin) and aegis (Greek), combining them into the name that I've used for... yikes, over two decades now.
-
Well...my name is Adam, and I recently moved to Connecticut. [shrugs]

My name is my name. It doesn't have a story.
I sure ain't gonna put up my whole name on the interwebs - :)

For years I was a serious high power rifle competitor. My first forays in the internet were the high power forums. This type of competition is done at 200, 300 & 600 yards with long range at 1000y, almost exclusively with iron sights.
At longer ranges, all other things equal, it pretty much becomes a battle of you against the wind. Without going into too much detail, how you adjust your sights for wind is expressed in "minutes" or minutes of angle. So if you ask someone coming off the line. "How much wind did you have on?" He might say 1 left, or 2 right.
So I became tworight, with a nod to the down under expression. It was taken somewhere, so 2right now just 2wo...John

That's a great story, very cool nickname. But I am left wondering what a comic high power rifle competitor would be like...
-
Krusty the Klown?

I was wondering how the hell I missed this thread! Started by Greg no less! Then I realized, it was just started today... relax. You didnt miss anything. Ok - earwaxxer came from the original thought of earwax that was already taken on many sites, and so I picked earwaxxer with two x's because nobody took it! Very original, I know..

I repair and modify sailboat sails for a living. Sometimes the prognosis is better than others...

My given name, year of birth. Easy!
-
I gor my nickname when I started playing drums 18 years ago.
The first things I learnt were Bonham's fills, so here came my nickname.
I'm a Zeppelin fan and still a drummer in a Zep tribute band in Italy.
Ciao!

My last name plus year of birth. Not exactly creative ...... :(

First name and first letter or last name.

Grainger49, I should have lied about my age many years ago. I could have retired even earlier.
-
The first forums I signed up for were for snowmobiles and pickups. My name is Mark and at the time I had a Mountain Max sled and a Dura Max pickup.
-
When I tried to sign up for my first email account dbliss was taken so I inserted my middle name. On some forums I am known as bluegti. Guess the color and model of the car I had at the time?
-
Just my first name, my mother was taking Italian at the time of my birth, I came out with my fists up and swinging so she found a name that meant "ready for battle". It generates confusion sometimes because it's also a Spanish name (with the same meaning) and I don't speak Spanish.
-
Rif comes from my last name-it's been my nickname for as long as I can remember.
On a tangent my avatar is from a set of figurines/scenes my grandfather used to make out of telephone company wire.
-
But I am left wondering what a comic high power rifle competitor would be like...
Two competitors walk into a bar. One turns to the other and says "now don't go shooting your mouth off again"...John

I got frustrated back in the early days of the internet (early 90's) trying to make a userid for a site without having to add numbers to the back of my name. I had been reading a lot of Douglas Hofstadter at the time and it seemed logical to combine the words Porcupine and Contrapunctus into something that no one else would ever use (probably for good reason). It worked.
Ironically, it was many years later that I became a fan of Porcupine Tree.
A world without coincidence would be much stranger still.

From http://www.umich.edu/~umfandsf/symbolismproject/symbolism.html/Teutonic_Mythology/ringsym.html
"In Siegfried, the young hero meets up with a mysterious Wanderer, who is really his grandfather, the god Wotan, in disguise. Throughout Teutonic mythology, the all-father Wotan (Wagner's version of Odin) transforms himself so he can travel freely amongst the nine worlds. Similarly, Wagner's Wotan is also famed for his various disguises; ........"
-
"Holy name calling Batman! Who'd a guessed the depth of this mysterious 'Wanderer?' "
"Indeed Robin...indeed." "Alfred! Gas up the Batter-mobile, and don't skimp on the gas, I'll know if you do."
"WILL THE DYNAMIC DUO SEEK OUT THIS 'WANDERER?' AND IF THEY DO, MIGHT HE BE...A COUSIN? TUNE IN NEXT TIME! SMAE BAT TIME, SAME BAT CHANNEL."
-
In Highlanders case, "There can be only one".. but apparently in our own Highlander (4krows) case, "There cannot be only one scotch".... :)
-

On some forums I am known as bluegti. Guess the color and model of the car I had at the time?
For just a split second, I thought, Wow his first car was a blue Buggatti!

"Holy name calling Batman! Who'd a guessed the depth of this mysterious 'Wanderer?' "
.....
Yeah, I am just one pretentious little bastard ain't I....and besides "FuzzyBunny" was already taken.
-
Wanderer, Your a good sport. We like to have fun here sometimes. I just knew that the handles used would have some interesting stories. No disappointment.
-
Rockdrummer was the first thing that came to mind. I am a music teacher/band director/pit director and couldn't imagine working without music and other musicians.
I was a piano player so i could be a drummer in 5th grade band.

My father was a music teacher. he played jazz piano like no other. He also played trumpet. Those are beautiful memories. I've rarely been without music, either performing or listening to, in my life.

Like a few others here, I needed a unique monicker and sort of grabbed the first one that was handy...I think I'd seen caffeinator on another bulletin board somewhere in the past, so I can't claim to be the author of it...and while I do enjoy coffee, it has little significance...
-
An ex-girlfriend of mine use to call me "The Paulinator" That might have made for an interesting moniker. Actually she call me her little paulinator, but I prefer to remember it my way.
-
Oh, man....so many witty comments and disquieting images flying around my head that I don't even know where to start...
:o

An ex-girlfriend of mine use to call me "The Paulinator" That might have made for an interesting moniker. . . . .
Not if M. E. knew about it! You have email about some AIVS.
-
I can never go to England. My last name is Peyton, and they use 'Master' instead of 'Mister' You figure it out.
-
I was going to be Thundar... But I didnt want to have to apologize again to everybody... :)
-
The Paullinator... Hmmm You must have been a busy little bee.... Ok, I will apologize in advance.. I'm sorry....
