Title: Choke input power supplies

One way of controlling the B+ with choke input is using a small value cap in front of the input choke; smaller cap lower voltage, bigger higher B+. What I wonder is: is there any way to calculate what size cap one needs according to the voltage needed? Hope I have made myself clear.

It depends strongly on the resistance of the transformer windings, the rectifier, and the load current. The most practical approach is to simulate the power supply in PSUD and try different values. It's a learning curve to use PSUD but it will pay dividends for years after!

I was afraid it would be rather complicated. Just have to try different values and see what I get, since PSUD doesn't seem to work on a Mac. Thanks all the same.
