Hi guys, long time no posting. Life has kept me too busy to play with audio much for the last year and a half, but I am starting to get more listening time in recently and of course that makes me want to tweak my system.
I am currently looking into DACs, one that I will be getting offers 3 levels of output based on the model you purchase. The output voltages range from 2.63 volts to something over 4 volts. The specs of the Stereomour indicate that it will reach full output at .4 volts. My question is, will the additional voltage give me additional power out or will it simply lead to clipping. I feel I should know the answer but realize I don't have a solid understanding.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Best,
Ed

It just clips.

Mike is right. There may be more to the output voltage options that might have advantages but voltage alone will get you nothing.

The higher output settings will just cause the dreaded "hairtrigger volume control".

That is what I thought but wasn't certain, thanks for the info guys.
