The Burning Amp DIY show will be on Sunday, October 6th at Fort Mason, building C. From what I have heard this is a fantastic show. I will be demonstrating a SEX 2.1 which Dan and Eileen are very kindly loaning to me, Quickie, power cord, Fostex bass reflex speakers and assembly manuals. Also will be making chocolate chip cookies for the lunch.
Hope to see and meet some Bottlehead's at the show!
Here is a link for the show:

Also will be making chocolate chip cookies for the lunch.
You might get Doc B and the Queen to pop down and visit to snack on some of those cookies!

Anyone planning on attending?
-
Eileen and I have to get a kid moved to college on one side of that weekend and we are celebrating our 23rd anniversary with a week's vacation on the other side of that weekend, so we will not be able to attend.
-
Looks like a lot of fun. I'd like to attend one of those one day. Just wish it was a little closer. Airfare is freaking expensive these days. Anyway I've volunteered my time for that week at The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta that week.

I will probably attend. Might bring the BeePre.
I went 2 years ago and had a good time. BA is a very relaxed event.

Just received the loaner SEX 2.1 amplifier from Dan and Eileen.

Burning Amp 2013 was a good show and Bottlehead had a good showing. I found Cary setup in a room with his Marantz CD player, Fostex speakers, Quickie preamp, and SEX 2.1 integrated.
Our new friend Mario also setup in this room with 3 pair of wonderful Mark Audio speakers he had assembled. Two were mini-monitors based on the Mark Audio Alpair 6m and Alpair 6p. The other was a Pencil design MLTL with a Mark Audio 12p. All sounded great with the Bottlehead gear.
I brought my BeePre and added that to the mix. Sometimes the other rooms sound intruded when they cranked the volume way up, but the 2 watt SEX 2.1 driving single drivers was sweet!
Cary handed out lots of Bottlehead cards and we probably got some good press.
I forgot the camera, so no pics to add :-\
Nice meeting you Cary!

Kevin,
Here are a couple shots I took of your Beepre and the SEX 2.1 at the show.
I was quite impress to say the least.
Hope you don't mind me posting them here.
I found this Burning amp event quite informative.
It was nice meeting ya.

Damn!
Totally spaced it,.. again!
From all accounts, sounds like a great time.
Maybe next year?

Hey Cary,
Not sure who's quickie was there on the table but what kind of enclosure was that in?
-
The Quickie was mine, the enclosure is a Hammond factory black power coated steel chassis box. They go for around $15.

Hi Cary,
Just wanted to thank you for your Bottlehead demos with Mark's diy speakers at the BA fest.
I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to listen to Kevin's Beepre and the S.E.X. 2.1
with high efficiency diy speakers (Mark's) in your listening room.
It was nice meeting and chatting with you.
I'm now itching to get a Beepre...thanks to you.. ;D
Happy listening!

Hey guys, for any of you who were in Mario's room, did you get to hear the quickie feeding the amp camp amps? And was this quickie stock or did it have a PJCCS in it?
Just got my ACAs a couple of days ago and plan to use them with the quickie 1.1 I have.
Thanks,
Jim

We hooked up my Quickie (w/PJCCS) to Mario's Camp Amp, it sounded fantastic! Mario and everyone else who heard it was very impressed with the combo and thought the Quickie was a great sounding preamp for very little money.

Just a personal comment here. There are those who hear a piece like the Quickie and buy something much more complex, not to mention more expensive. Then they are not really satisfied with what they bought and never get it.
The Quickie is magical for two reasons. First, it can't hum with a battery supply (ground loops excepted). Second, it is an elegantly simple, well designed circuit.
The more expensive piece is over engineered.
Again, just my humble opinion.
-
Thanks -- this is great. BTW, I was interested in the upgrades mostly because I wanted to make sure the 4k output impedance with the PJCCS was still ok iwth the 10k Zin of the ACA, which by all accounts seems to be a non-issue (asssuming reasonable length interconnects, f course.)

Hi everyone,
I just saw that Cary and Bottlehead were mentioned in Jason Serinus's (Stereophile) coverage of Burning Amp this year. He included a picture of Cary's BeePree in the article complete with Doc's recommended tube dampers. I just wanted to say thanks to Cary for spreading the word about Bottlehead. I wish I could have attended but its always on the wrong coast for me. Maybe the exposure will lead others to this great company!

The BeePree belongs to Kevin, he was kind enough to join Mario and me in our room. About three hours into the show I got a chance to slip away to check out the other rooms. In one room they were really blasting the music, on my way out I noticed a familiar wood box with the Bottlehead badge. It was Kevin after we introduced ourselves I invited him to join us in our room. We hooked up his BeePree to the SEX 2.1 amplifier, the combo with Mario's Mark Audio pencil speakers was nothing short of fantastic!! We had a lot of people come through and enjoy our put together system. My chocolate chip cookies were gone in a very short time!
I want to personally thank everyone at Bottlehead for their support. The SEX amplifier was a loaner from them, at the time I just started construction on mine. I also bought my SEX 2.0 as a back up. I have demonstrated my 2.0 at every show and meet for many years. Every time I mention that I will be doing a show or meet, the first words out of anyone at Bottlehead is "What can we do to help?". To me it is a privilege and a honor to demo their equipment.
Next years Burning Amp Kevin agreed to bring his BeePree, Joel (jolen1aub) said he will bring his Stereomour and my 2.1 will be done. A fun time was had by all.
