Title: 237 R1 resistor upgrade

Previous post had incorrect ohm.  What do you recommend and the source?

There was a post by Grainger49 on Dec 28, 2011 that listed upgrade #4 as R1 on the C4S board as a final tweak and suggested a tantalum resistor. 
I have located a 240 ohm at Parts Connexion.  Is that acceptable? The stock one is 237 ohm.
I have already upgraded parafeed and interstage caps with Auricaps and plan to bypass the power supply caps and cathode bypass caps with 1uf and .1 uf Auricaps. Is that acceptable?

It should function in that position, my asking was mainly because I'm not sure what the benefit of changing it would be. That resistor sets the current that comes from the power supply and runs through plate of the tube. Its resistance value accuracy and stability are its most critical attributes , and in theory at least it's isolated from the signal path. I'm just not sure if a tantalum resistor is an upgrade for a current set resistor or not. You won't harm anything trying it.

Thanks, Doc.  Based on your comments I see no reason to upgrade that part.
