Title: The Transatlantic Sessions
Post by: JamieMcC on December 13, 2013, 08:16:56 AM
We recently had a new series of "The Transatlantic Session" broadcast here in the UK its a mix of some simply amazing musicians and singers from both sides of the Atlantic. Its always eagerly anticipated (by me at least) and a joy to watch such talented musicians play.

Wiki description "The productions comprise collaborative live performances by various leading folk and country musicians from both sides of the North Atlantic, playing music from Scotland, Ireland, England and North America"

I was wondering if you guys over in the USA have ever heard of it? There are some cracking CD's and dvd's from the series

Youtube gives a flavour, Grainger I have a feeling you might like some of these ones.

Interesting, very interesting!  I have seen these CDs for a while but didn't buy them since they are awfully expensive on this side of the pond.

BBC America doesn't carry the sessions.  I just looked.  Oh well, we get the Doctor!

Three of the four have Jerry Douglas on them.  I've been a big fan since 1990.  I recognize his style on all sorts of music, look and he is in the credits.

I go back to work on Monday, maybe I'll afford some of those CDs I have denied myself for years.

Thanks for the post.

P.S. I thought it was The Transatlantic Story, I was given that by a good friend a few weeks back.

I find Youtube is very helpful  for checking out tracks on albums prior to purchasing blind. The sessions are definitely not in the mainstream category over here they always seem to be shown late at night so very thankful for catch-up internet tv here.

Edit have you tried looking on ebay?

I think I will crank up next week and buy one for each week I work.  The artists are very good.  I'd like to collect a number of them.
