Title: distortion on Quickie with PJCCS
Post by: aragorn723 on January 03, 2014, 03:06:46 AM
This morning I was listening to a CD with the Quickie, and heard distortion on both channels.  It sounded kind of like a fuzzy noise.  What could be causing the problem?

Have you checked the voltages on your batteries?

Looks like its time for some 9v batteries:

IA/IB 3.22v / 3.22v
A6/B6 2v / 2v

Yes, the D-cells and the 9V batteries will wear out at roughly the same time.

Am i better off changing both at the same time?

Thanks, that fixed it!

Aragorn,

I go through the same thing when I have a worn out pair of tubes.  The Paramour drivers and the Foreplay 12AU7s are the usual ones that need to be changed out.  But not both pair at the same time.  Of course it is years between these happenings but I always think that it is something else, not the obvious.
