Title: Interesting Tubes
Post by: mortron on January 14, 2014, 06:32:47 PM
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DL92-3S4-CV484-PHILIPS-NOS-FRANCE-Tube-Rohre-Lampe-TSF-Valvola-Valvula-Valve-/400626648044?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item5d473583ec

Had I the funds, I'd give them a shot. Anyone had experience? Who's gonna try them?

I might have ordered a pair... eBay watch lists can be a dangerous thing ::)

I have a couple of Philips: I rate them between the Siemens (the best I have) and standard RCA.
Since now I tried: stock french "green print" tubes, JAN Sylvania, JAN RCA, JAN Mullard, Siemens and standard RCA.
Never tried Telefunken.
Ciao!

What does JAN mean?

Out of interest how do you rate the Sylvanias?

Aha.  My set of RCA's will fall into that category then as they had US Navy labeling on the boxs.

I just had a look though my eBay history and found i have a set of Sylvanias, Mullards, Ken-Rads, and the Philips in the post.  ....i really need to delete that eBay notification lol.

JAN Sylvanias are the best JAN so far, they are even better than Mullard's (in my opinion and in my system).
Less microphonic and better performance in every aspect.

Ciao!

I ordered a pair of Telefunkens DL92s from a seller in germany (ebay) and it took over 40 days for the pair to arrive.  I wouldn't give up hope yet.

These look just like the French 3S4's that we are currently shipping with our kits.

This guy is listing Mullard DL92's on flebay, marked as British Made.  He has sold two sets so far (i nabbed one) so he seems to have a stash of them.  I'll report back when i've actually received and tried them.
