Title: Quad II amps you helped me with
Post by: tpatton on January 15, 2014, 04:51:41 PM
I'm trying to sell the Quad II amps I got so much invaluable upgrading help on from this Forum.

A prospective buyer wants to know if they'll work with a 4 ohms or less speaker load.  I have them set for 8 ohms, as opposed to the other setting, 15 ohms.

Any ideas on that?  The amps are very nice after all your help with them, dead quiet among other things.

Many thanks in advance.

In their youth the Quad II was used mono and stereo with the 57esl speaker and this drops to a 2 ohm load over 10kcs. They are very stable, so if the power is sufficient there should be no problems. The Quad valve watts are big for their age but like most amps benefit from not being over driven.

What are the speakers that are rated at 4 ohms?
