Title: Need Help Identifying Capacitor
Post by: Yoder on April 10, 2014, 03:37:18 PM
I pulled the crossover out of my Klipsch Chorus to see what was there. Everything was pretty straight forward except for two capacitors on the crossover. The capacitors in question are yellow in color and appear to be film capacitors. They have a "TI" stamped on the top, and then "2J 250V" below. They are made in Mexico.

I have spent some time searching the Web, but cannot find anything about the "2J". My question is: does anyone know what the "2J" means and what its modern day equivalent is? Thanks in advance, and I shall down a double stout waiting for a reply!

Cheers.

In EIA capacitor code 2J is 630V. Since they already state 250V, I would say that the 2J is 2uF.  Are there any other letters or numbers as part of the designation?

Cheers,

Googling the schematic shows 2x 2µF caps.
