Title: S.E.X kit bass thump
Post by: mcwhart on April 11, 2014, 02:55:28 PM
Hello,

Listening to my iPod through a S.E.X. kit with upgrade, and I am noticing that bass-heavy tracks almost always produce a random thumping sound at some point during the song.  Using Blumenstein Orcas with Dungeness subwoofer.  The same effect can be heard through headphones.  Does anyone have any ideas around what might be causing this?

Thanks for your help

Sounds like your drivers are bottoming out. Might want to turn the volume down a bit.

Another possibility: I had something I would describe very similarly happen with a slowly-failing tube. I would get a sporadic VERY intense thump, but only in one channel. If you've got a sub, this might not be obviously channel specific.

In my case this was sporadic and didn't even require music playing or connected inputs.

Might also consider swapping the source and seeing if the effect persists.
