Title: Hi pitch whine
Post by: Nathan on June 08, 2014, 04:26:45 AM
Is there anything in the Crack circuit (non speedball)!that could cause a high pitched whine?
I'm inclined to believe I'm picking it up from somewhere rather than it being caused by the crack. It only on the left channel which is odd. Wonder if it's an interconnect issue

I once had a cold solder joint cause an issue like this in one of my projects.  I would take your pliers and give everything a tug to see if there are any loose connections.

If you think it's an interconnect, unplug them from the Crack to see if the whine goes away.

I have found a microphonic tube that caused a whine in one channel. It was an RCA 6AS7G from a friend. The whine is constant and independent of volume. I am not saying this is your problem, but it is a possibility.

I have had both tubes and improperly seated interconnects cause this issue.

Reseated left channel IC, snugged up the WBT's collar (I both love and hate locking collars), whine is gone. My tinnitus still comes and goes. Can anyone fix that?
