If I'm feeding an amp [for example a Stereomour]  from a Mac computer , could I get more "punch" by using a pre-amp between the Mac and the amp ??

Hello Guy,

This very much depends on how much voltage your source can deliver.  You can run a 60 Hz tone through your computer, then measure the AC voltage at the output jack.  If you don't see several volts here, a preamp may make some sense.
