What tube sockets are you using with them?

I can highly recommend these ones as they are very nice quality, and grab onto the tube nice and tight. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-CMC-Bakelite-Gold-Pin-Tube-Socket-9P-Brown-Base-/130378212735?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item1e5b25a57f (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-CMC-Bakelite-Gold-Pin-Tube-Socket-9P-Brown-Base-/130378212735?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item1e5b25a57f)

Thanks for the link. I'm open to all 9 pin suggestions since I haven't obtained an upgraded base yet.

Did you use a pin break out PCB or did you solder straight on to the base?

You really have to use the PCB's for the pin style sockets, i wouldn't fancy trying to solder wires directly onto them.  That seller also lists small PCB's i used on them.

I guess it's all perspective. I looked at the pictures from the standpoint of tech support and immediately thought about the potential for nine additional bad solder joints.

They are difficult to solder onto the socket as the pins soak up a lot of heat, especially on the center terminal.  They are also a pain to use when you have to solder more than one wire per terminal due to the size of the holes.  On the plus side the tube sockets are of a much better quality.

I thought more folks here were using these 9 pin pcb boards from different sources like theses.  One for the Yamamoto teflon socket. This other from Parts connection.

Where might one get those extra pins for the outer holes?
