Title: Bypass Caps

Someone over at Head-Fi recommended I buy some of these to bypass the 100uf caps on the Crack as I mentioned getting a little higher end for my HD650.  I did order two of them.  Any comments, concerns, or a great thing to try?  And by bypass I assume he meant just soldering right over the top of the other one's.

Hi John here are a couple of pics of the same capacitors installed on my Crack essentially you will need to solder one lead from each end of the Teflon capacitor to a either the lead or terminal connection (if still using the electrolytic ones) of the 100uf 160v signal capacitors it doesn't matter which way round you connect the leads only that one connection is made from each end to a corresponding lead on the original capacitor. You should be able to notice a difference straight away but the teflons do benefit from burning in 200hrs is often recommended before they achieve their full potential.

If you need to secure them then some "self adhesive cable tie mounts" are inexpensive and readily available on ebay

Jamie,

Your Crack has turned into a Blivit.  That is 10 pounds of mud in a 5 pound sack.  This is Dolly Parton's self description.  A better mental image than mud.

There are 0.22uF@600V available.

I've added the same bypass caps. I'm into bypass - works well for my ticker, works well for my crack.  :)

 Since i have installed a Mandorf Caps in my crack i decided to try bypassing them and the result is surprising to my ears the crack suddenly sound BRIGHT too much TREBLE the bass seems disappeared.I used Solen 0.010uf 1000V,I like how the bypass adds some treble but perhaps too much for my ears.Can i use 1uf instead?will the treble be less if i used higher value?

These are inexpensive experiments to do with Solen or Panasonic polypropylene caps.
