Title: Moving to a country with 240V
Post by: kscwuzhere on October 22, 2014, 10:44:51 AM
So I'm going to be moving to Thailand where the output voltage is 240V. My crack is currently built with the 120V transformer as I'm currently residing in the US. My question is when I move (and bring the crack with me) would using a transformer at the end of power cable solve the problem or would I have to replace the power transformer currently in the Crack? Thanks in advance bottlehead!

You'll just need a step-down transformer 240V to 120V. They come in various wattage ratings.

According to wikipedia, Thailand is 220 volts, not 240 volts.  In practice, you may not know your actual local voltage until you get there and pull out your meter. You may want to get the transformer there, but if you get one here be sure it can be adjusted for these slight variations.

Another thing is that the voltage will change with the hour of the day.  It does that here in Tennessee to a small extent.  It will have a wider range of voltages in Thailand.
