Title: Anyone else keeping tabs on the Elrog ER-300B?
Post by: johnsonad on November 02, 2014, 02:04:24 PM
Found this by random today http://vinylsavor.blogspot.com/2014/10/elrog-er-300b-first-impressions.html (http://vinylsavor.blogspot.com/2014/10/elrog-er-300b-first-impressions.html) and thought some here may find these tubes interesting.  They are not cheap but may be a good option for the BeePre.  The thought of thoriated tungsten filaments has me salivating :)

Hadn't seen that - very cool! I look forward to the specs. When they are available, I'll see what changes are called for to optimize the Paramount.

I'll just note that if you plug it into an existing amp, you will reduce the distortion because of how the operating point shifts, and the speaker damping will also change - not surprising that there would be an audible difference in sound!

Now if he makes a 2A3 version ...

I have!  I believe there are two USA distributors.  True Audiophile on the West Coast (Portland, OR) and Tubes USA on the East Coast (New York).  There's been a big demand and early pre-orders have sold out - first two shipments for True Audiophile and first shipment for Tubes USA.

I have been in contact with George from Tubes USA and he said he will give me a complete evaluation once he gets the first shipment in.  He's a straight shooter, so I trust his opinion.

Thanks Gerry. I've emailed both of them and will pick up a pair.
