Title: Modeling Parabee Power Supply using PSU Designer
Post by: AudioDave on November 06, 2014, 03:25:03 AM
I would like to model the Parabee power supply using PSU Designer and was wondering if anyone has the specs for the MagnaQuest PGP 8.1 power transformer,  i.e. open circuit voltage and effective resistance?  In a previous post it was mentioned that I could replace the stock 100 uf electrolytic caps with 47 uf film caps and I just want to see what affect that has.
Thanks!
Dave

Sure - 380-0-380v open circuit, 315 ohms end to end. Primary is 5.13 ohms (n.b. nominal 117 volts) - don't forget to figure that in!

Voltages will be a hair lower due to the low voltage secondaries, which cause an extra voltage drop on the primary. Just so you know ot to take the results without at least a bit of salt.  :^)
