Title: Fuses
Post by: Doc B. on November 20, 2014, 08:38:36 AM
Apparently a recent shipment of 1 Amp fuses had some 10 Amp fuses mixed in by mistake. If you have received a 10 amp fuse in error your amp will work with it, but it won't be very well protected from any wiring errors or component failures. The fuses that are incorrect are marked 10A rather than 1A on one of the metal ends, and thus should be easily identified. If you got a 10A fuse in error and would like a replacement we are happy to send one to you. Email [email protected]. If you are outside the States it might be quicker and easier to pick a 1A fuse up at a local hardware store.

My Crack Manual lists the fuse as a 0.5 A - the fuse markings are "F1AL 250V".
This marking means "Fast 1 Amp Low (glass) breaking capacity with maximum 250V at rated interrupting current".
The manual lists 0.5 A and I have a 1A fuse.
I spotted this difference during installation and rationalized this to be OK(?).
I will continue to use the 1A fuse as delivered - or am I telling myself a story here?

1A is correct and provides more than adequate protection. The half amp fuses were blowing too easily in certain circumstances, so it was changed. If an amp was built incorrectly, the 1A fuse would blow before damage could occur, but a 10A fuse would not.
