Hey guys,
About to put my order in for a new crack with speedball. Really excited to see how it sounds with my HD650s.
I was hoping to shorten the height of the chassis, but I have a few concerns. With the speedball heatsinks being so long would head be an issue if I cut down the case? Just worried that the heatsinks will sit closer to my desktop and possible damage my desk.
Any ideas?

Food for thought it might be possible to mount the Speedball board on its side with the heat sinks horizontal instead of vertical.
I will leave it up to the bottlehead guys to comment.

The Crack needs clearance above the output tube as well as clearance to allow air to come under the base. The output tube runs hot and shouldn't be too close to wood or composite. The base needs clearance to allow air to come in and through the slots in the top plate.
What is causing the clearance problem? Possibly that could be changed?

Oh there is no clearance issue. For aesthetic reasons I wanted to shorten the height of the wooden enclosure. It would still be on rubber feet so airflow will not be an issue. The only thing I was worried about is that the speedball heatsinks would sit closer to the surface below the amp. I just wanted to know if having the heatsinks closer to the desktop would be an issue.

You can cut the base down about an eighth of an inch before the heatsinks will touch your work surface.
The rubber feet are also not optional, not using them will cut off airflow.

great, thanks for the reply. I guess I will be leaving it at the stock height then. An eighth of an inch is not worth the trouble.
Thanks again!
