Title: Capacitor Size
Post by: Yoder on January 14, 2015, 11:39:25 AM
I am doing a mod on a component (non-BH) and am replacing a 100uF 63v capacitor. It is suggested that I replace the cap with a 220uF one. I have a 220uF cap, but only in 250v form. The larger sized cap will fit in the component, but I am wondering if the additional voltage headroom will have any negative effect(s)? Thanks

No problem. The worst that is likely to happen is that, after some time, the 250v cap will not happily take 250v any more - but it will still take 63v or more. Just be careful about re-using it in another circuit!

Many thanks for the info.
