Title: Finished Crack build!
Post by: grizzzle on January 14, 2015, 02:22:09 PM
Hello all,

UPS dropped off my Crack about a week and a half ago and after 3 2-hour nights I had it all put together and playing. A few observations:

- It pays to pay attention to the instructions.
- Sounds absolutely lovely with my HD650's (the reason I got the Crack)
- Takes about half an hour of warming up to get to optimal sound.
- Excellent heat source for the winter months in upstate New York  :P

Next up: probably the speedball.

Congratulations! The key to a successful build is to follow the directions exactly! My  Crack build and my Speedball build went well because of the fine directions and because I am meticulous about following directions (well, I may have deviated a touch here and their in the Speedball build by reversing the order of the install of the main PC board by first connecting the 4 wires then screwing them board into place).

Good tools are key also.

Enjoy-

I found it helpful to read ahead a little and see if some of the terminals take more than one component and if so, not to solder them until everything is into place. Some of those connections seem to get pretty crowded. Oh yes, and try to work neatly.
