Title: Straight 8's and off the peg subwoofers.
Post by: Gaspode on January 30, 2015, 11:03:10 AM
Hello all.
I'm looking for some ideas about adding a pair of subwoofers to my Straight 8's

What is the current wisdom of the crowds about how to set this up?

Thanks in advance.

Cross them over about 55 Hz.

These look promising.

You could also use the BSC filtering on the widest baffle setting of the Fix to nudge up the deep bass.

Uh-uh. The array already compensates for baffle step. A BSC will make the upper bass too boomy and the ported cabinet bass roll off at 55Hz is too steep for a BSC (which would also need a baffle width setting of like 10 feet to come in at 55Hz). Bet bet is to blend a sub in at about 55Hz. Above that the bass response is quite smooth.
