How difficult would it be to convert an Eros phono to Eros tape? I am assuming it involves some changes other than EQ and adding a switch, since there is a separate manual for the Eros tape. There has been some discussion on converting an Eros tape to NAB plus RIAA, but how about from RIAA to NAB + EIC?
Although I lust after Tape Project tapes and other 15 IPS tapes, (though many of the others are NAB, which would play!), all of my current tapes are either 2 track or 4 track 7.5 IPS. Would it make sense to just go RIAA + NAB until the bank account is flush enough for the really good stuff?

The gain structure is different. That's why they are two different kits.

Geary,
Mine was the only one made that could switch between RIAA and NAB. It was a factory build and a compromise. I've since switched it to IEC and NAB but it took sending it back into PB to fix it. You would need to significantly mod yours to get it over to NAB and IEC. It might be work considering a new kit for this.
I've thought of building a new RIAA and selling off my complete tape rig recently. It just doesn't get used enough to justify it.

Thanks Aaron,
Did you have issues with the NAB/RIAA switch configuration? My Seduction tape has been flakey and really doesn't get the job done with the Otari. I really miss playing my tapes! (The TTP open house in SF, last year, just "rubbed salt into the wounds"!)
Sounds like I am better off just leaving the Eros as phono. I have a Hagerman Cornet 2 phono pre that I built and pretty heavily "upgraded"...no eletrolytics in B+, Russian PIO and Vcap. Big aluminum and maple case with lots of real estate to play with. Handily beats my "upgraded" Seduction Phono. Will be interesting to compare to Eros.

I didn't have a problem with it but at the time, my system had a lot more gain. In current configuration I'm pretty sure I would have issues.
