I finished my Stereomour yesterday and after the reading looked good hooked it up my Orcas and turned it on .Nada! Got to be the Dac or the Mac Sound setting or SOMETHING not connected to my build. After hours and trying to find the problem I went ti bed and in the morning pulled the tubes and put it on the bench. Oh, Oh,My. I never did the after completion connection check, just resistance and voltage, because I know just how careful I am doing a build and all my connections are Perfect! In the first half hour I found 3 Unsoldered and three very maybe's. I was so shocked at my poor work that I just quit for the night...disgusted. You may be a lot better then me, but then again, who knows.
This may or may not get this rig running but Ive learned a new tool for my craft.

I know the feeling. My SEX all checked out and worked fine but for a noisy tube. Played nice for a few weeks and then I thought I'd change up the impedance taps to 4ohms to lower the noise floor............Found FOUR completely unsoldered joints!!! Jeeez, gotta be more careful!

The presbyopia thing can do you in. ;D

One of the trickiest aspects of kit building is slowing down enough to actually enjoy thoroughly going back over all the work. I kind of renewed this philosophy the last couple years in putting together a motorcycle from the ground up - looking over every bit, double checking the torque on every bolt. In that case the notion that a stupid mistake could kill me helped to infuse the attitude, but it can be useful to develop the urge to go back over everything with care in any DIY project.

I just built the quicksand. No sound. I have a hard time with the boards sometimes so i was very slow deliberate and used a different solder tip for the board. Turns out that everything was ok but i completely mangled a few pins on the chip trying to insert it. Had no idea i did that. Anyway its up and running and sounds great!

Thats a bad feeling when you realize you won't be able to save a part you've just murdered.
