Title: Speedball Pin 6 Voltage [solved]
Post by: ssenesy on March 11, 2015, 08:29:24 AM
Hello again all.

After a week of enjoying the stock Crack, I decided to install the Speedball.  Everything went fine on the install, but I've got a single weird reading during my voltage checks.  I have 100vdc on pin 6 (as well as pin 7).  All other voltages were within tolerance and all LED's are lit.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Was your Crack functioning pre-Speedball?

The 100uF capacitor between 6 and 7 is there to block the DC voltage.  The 2.49K resistors at the headphone jack keep the negative side of the caps at ground potential.

To have 100V at both terminals, they would need to be shorted together, or the connection to the 2.49K resistor would need to be flaky and not making contact.

PB;

Everything was fine pre-speedball.

and fixed...  ;D

The center 2.49k resistor solder joint was bad on the output jack (coming from terminal 6).  It was probably marginal before and I bumped it or something while installing the speedball.  Everything looks great now.  Can't wait to try the Tung Sol 5998 that I got yesterday.

Thanks very much!
