Title: RCA 6AS7 broken getter antenna (?) - is it a problem?
Post by: blackeyeliner on March 16, 2015, 11:40:40 PM
I've got a good looking NOS RCA 6AS7 and noticed that the "antenna" (or how is it called?) that is located near the getter is broken. The piece of metal that is between the "legs" is soldered to one leg only and the other side of it lies on the glass.

How much of a problem is that? The sound is OK, but how do I know...

That piece is used to hold some barium temporarily during production.  After the barium is drawn onto the glass, it serves no other purpose.
