Title: Records
Post by: aragorn723 on September 11, 2015, 05:12:26 PM
Hi,

I was at the local record store the other day and found What's New by Linda Ronstadt.  It sounded good, but it had a noticeable warp when playing.  Is that ok?

Warped records are quite common. Try using a clamp when playing, or search for some DIY recipes to make them flatter.

Ciao!

If it is bad enough (interferes with your listening enjoyment) and you want to pitch it, try Greg Weavers method.. Place the CLEANED record between 2 TEMPERED pieces of glass and place it in your preheated (middle rack) oven at 150 degrees for 12 minutes 'ish'.. Take out and let cool, then remove album.. If you dont succeed, try it again...  IF the warp is bad enough to not want the record, why not give it a shot...

Hi,

So it sounds like a slight warp isn't a big deal as long as the record plays?

Yes.
I have lots of warped records, no problems for me!  ;)
