Title: messing with quickie rotary switch [resolved]

Hi,

I was trying to get rid of the extra position on the Quickie turn-on knob (Quickie 1.1).  It is installed onto the acrylic plate and all the wires are hooked up to it, so it isn't possible to see the numbers on the front of the switch.  If the switch is turned clockwise, it clicks 3 times.  That's not normal, right?  I was able to move the tabbed washer, but wound up getting 8 or 9 positions, instead of the on, input 1, and input 2 positions (total of 3?).  Is there an easier way to do this without de-soldering?  Thanks,

The easy way to do it is to desolder. You have most likely already spent as much time working on this as you would have if you just dealt with the wires properly from the start. Stitch in time saves nine.

Hi Josh,

The switch is out, and the positions are fixed.  During the de-soldering process, the wire insulation melted a bit.  Should I replace the wire?  Thanks,

If the melting is severe enough to leave bare wire AND the exposed wire is close to contacting another bare wire/terminal/component lead, then it should be replaced.

Are there any resistance or voltage checks I should do after re-soldering the wires to the switch?  Thanks,

voltage checks looked ok, I guess its safe to hook up to an amp?
