Hmm, what's that copper colored choke all about? Looks like Tellurium copper binding posts and a cream colored chicken head knob. Hey, is that walnut?
What do you suppose this is all about?

Do tell.

Hmm. The chicken head knob screams guitar amp to me, as does the shielded choke. Walnut looks like an end piece for a Hammond enclosure so i would have said DIY amp project, or guitar amp but that doesn't fit with Bottlehead. And i don't see how any of those parts would fit a current Bottlehead product either. I'm stumped, need another clue...
-
I don't know. But one things for sure. It'll be pretty. ;)

Here's another puzzle piece -

Black, wrinkle finish powder coat. I did the same in the chassis for my old Firstwatt F5 I built years ago. Very handsome, this must be a custom, one off project.
What are you up to over there? ;)
-
Nope, not black wrinkle powdercoat. Bronze hammer finish acrylic lacquer. I guess I will have to give some more clues tomorrow. ;)
-
Are you speaking (and showing) some details of the SEX Substitute? ::)
-
That chassis plate could be a mainline, but then the binding posts don't make sense. Could be a new model as Bonzo suggests, but then why the custom walnut and binding posts...
-
Maybe a Kaiju?

Guitar Head Amp
I like that guess, but that's not what we are doing. I'll put up some more pics in a bit.

A S.E.X replacement? 8)
-
A 45 S.E.X replacement?
-
Nope, but this would make a very elegant S.E.X. replacement.
-
I vote for a tricked-out Seductor amp
edit: that knob though... Stereomour?
-
I'll come back in a week or so. I suck at Charades.

Tomorrow we shall share some info on this very special project.

Great looking base!

We have John Rutter of Harmonic Design works to thank for the beautifully milled walnut. He's also been making those awesome alder bases for us for the past what, 15 or more years?

Ooh that is just lovely, have you ever considered offering a premium line of wood bases?
-
JR is happy to mill custom bases for Bottlehead amps and has done so for many years. Clark Blumenstein also does bases from bamboo for our products.
-
I will keep that in mind. So are you going to spill the beans or tease us some more?
-
I hope to have more info to share later today. Waiting for a part delivery.
-
I’m certainly intrigued and looking forward to finding out just what you guys have been cooking up.

Certainly wouldn't kick that one out of bed for eating crackers...

Wow, that is really beautiful, nice work Doc. I hope you had as much fun customizing as we do :)

Man, the bar keeps getting higher. Very nice work.
