Am about to make FAQ #3 mod on my crack. Resistors are on order. Got me to thinking that it might be a good time to simultaneously add a stepped pot. I'm a good mechanic, a capable solderer, but very far from expert in any kind of electronic theory. Is there any high quality stepped pot out there that is sort of "drag and drop" meaning good fit and with lugs that mimic the lugs on the standard Crack pot (sorry, not meant to be another bad pun) so I can just follow the original manual.
Thanks in advance for any input. Best to all you Bottleheaders,
Alan

Generally, it's best to change one thing at a time in case you have any issues. Also, a stepped attenuator may no longer require the padding resistors.

Paul, thank you for the fine advice. Surgery completed and the patient recovered fully. Volume knob now has 3-4 times the previous range, and I agree that a stepped pot is unnecessary.
