Finished my stock kaiju today. No problems with the 1.5 fuse. I'll upgrade the caps and other stuff later. I'm breaking it in for now.
Fred
Almost forgot to mention this but I used 2% silver solder for the entire build. Maybe that's why I got away with the 1.5 fuse

Looks good! I don't think silver solder had anything to do with it other than being a pain to work with. Happy listening!

I did the DC filament upgrade and the clarity output cap upgrade and sure enough the 1.5 v fuse blew.I'm now using the 2.5 slow blow. Seems to be doing ok.
Fred
I did the caps first, the 1.5 held. After the DC filament upgrade the 1.5 blew.

I am using mundorf Sn 88,6 Cu 1,8 Ag 9,5 Au 0,1 solder wire and it works absolutely great for me - but I think one needs a good soldering station like a Weller with a good and clean soldering tip (I'm using Ersa Tip regenerator regularly) then it is really great to work with... ;)

I'll have to try the mundorf solder. I'm using Kester 2% silver and a Hakko fx-888d station. (No complaints about either, though).

I don't even think the higher melting point - 290 degrees celsius - is a big problem and it flows very well...;-) I am really wondering how it affects the sound - I am just about to finish my second Kaiju - this time with silver wiring all over and the high percent silver/copper/gold solder wire and some boutique parts - like mundorf silver in oill caps and vCaps as well.
