Title: Crack as a preamp

Can those two unused tabs (the ones used in the "Oops moment" mod) on the headphone jack be connected to RCA jacks so that when headphones aren't plugged in audio outputs to said RCA jacks?

I'm thinking of trying to bring a bit of tubey goodness to my desk speakers.

You could do that, though you'd have to find a place for two more RCA jacks.  Alternatively, you can get a 1/4" TRS to female RCA adapter and just plug that in instead of your headphones for the same result.
