Title: Crack with Etymotic's
Post by: Andrew M on August 11, 2010, 06:58:50 AM
Hello all. Has anyone had any experience using the Crack Bottlehead to drive the Etymotic's S or P's?

Looks like the 4S is 100 ohms nominal impedance and the 4P is 27 ohms. So only the S model would be recommended for use with the Crack.

Thanks for the reply Doc. I did hear that the Etymotics have a good synergy with valve head amps, the "Crack Bottlehead looks very tempting although with no soldering skills I would have to get one ready made.

Soldering is a relatively quick and painless skill to acquire, particularly if you have a Radio Shack handy.  In fact, I think they still carry the 5-lug terminal strips that are very much like the one used in Bottlehead kits;  mount a few of those to a scrap of wood, get a couple of packs of cheap resistors you don't care about, and you can get a lot of soldering practice in for a few bucks.
