Title: Crack crackling, found the culprit [resolved]
Post by: sanchox on January 17, 2017, 06:49:23 AM
I finished my Crack build nearly a month ago, and only in the last couple weeks have I encountered an issue.  Now, usually during the first 20-30min after turning the Crack on, I will get crackling and popping that is seemingly random.  It will randomly return, but typically it is far more sporadic after use. I went the chopstick route and found that if I tap or wiggle the black wire that goes from 3L to the bottom of the headphone jack I get the exact crackling and popping.  If I move the wire a bit more, the LEDs turn off.

Should reflowing this wire and its multiple connections to the headphone jack solve this crackling/popping?

Yes.

Done, and so far so good!  Upon close inspection, the first connection to the headphone jack was pretty weak.  I filled it nicely and now my Crack is no longer crackling!  Smooth as butter.

Thanks!
