Hi,
My phone charger went missing a few days ago. Today it showed up, in our washing machine! (It was in one of my pockets). It is in a sealed ziplock bag with some barley now to dry. How long should it stay in the bag? Is this enough to dry it out? Thanks,
Dave

1) Remove from bag
2) Place in a saucepan with a tight fitting lid
3) Bring contents to boil
4) Lower to simmer and cover. Cook for 45 minutes.
5) While you wait, go to store and buy charger.

So you're assuming this won't catch my apartment on fire? great idea lol 8) All kidding aside, the barley won't work? The charger was a little bit more on the expensive side as chargers go, so i'd like to save it if possible. Guess the tradeoff here is potentially frying my phone?

This is more about logic than "expertise". We certainly are not experts on drying out equipment with cereal grains, and we can't really have any idea if your charger will dry out. We can guess that if it shorts out from the potential water damage it could damage your phone. The only logical thing we can suggest is that you should minimize the risk. Buy a new charger, avoid the risk of damaging your phone too.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. Helps to have an outside opinion- I wound up finding an extra one lying around. Plus, not shorting out my phone means more money to spend on bottlehead stuff lol.

Your recipe is severely under-seasoned.

6) Season moderately with salt, nutmeg, and cayenne.

I'd add a little liquid smoke as well, just in case any leaked out...John
