Title: Right channel dropping out (solved)
Post by: skootx on March 14, 2017, 07:52:24 AM
I just finished the amp (stock) and it passed all tests. After 15 minutes or so, the right channel drops out and/or sounds very grainy. A light tap on the input/volume knob side of the top plate brings the right channel back, then it drops out again. I've resoldered the input jacks and pot thinking it might be a cold solder but the problem has continued.

Any thoughts on what to check next?

The easiest thing to do is reheat all connections in the amp.  I bet you missed soldering one somewhere.  It's either that or a cold joint somewhere.

OK, I eventually found what I suspect was a cold solder. Now the right channel stays on, but I get a sound like wind blowing in both channels. I do get music too.

Never mind. I reflowed all the headphone jack solder points and all is good. Thanks for your help.
