Title: Run 8 ohm configured OT1 on temp basis into 16 Ohm speakers?
Post by: kip.duff on September 27, 2017, 05:26:39 AM
I plan to install speaker impedence selector switching in my Paramounts and the parts recommended in this forum are on their way.  At this loint, my Paramount 1.1 with stock output transformers are soldered at 8 Ohms and using 300B tubes.  Will it hurt equipment to run these amps into my newly aquired 16 Ohm Altec A7/828 on a temporary basis till my parts arrive? :-X

Not a problem. There will be a small reduction in peak power (~2dB?) but the distortion will be a bit less. Neither is a big deal, especially with your high efficiency speakers.

Thanks Paul.
